It can be difficult to decide when to call in an emergency service call. You may be hesitant to make an unnecessary call, but when it comes to electricity, it is better to be safe than sorry.

If you are in need of emergency electrical services, then don’t hesitate—contact Price Electric at 319-393-6406 and will attend to your electrical needs as soon as possible!

Some electrical repairs are more direr than others. Knowing the right time to call an emergency electrician can be confusing. Here are some situations when you definitely need professional service:

  • Buzzing and Humming – Loud humming from a breaker box can indicate a faulty breaker that is failing to trip, or has poor wiring. This can be dangerous and can expose your home to a wide variety of electrical failures.
  • Loss of Power – There can be many reasons for a loss of power. If you lose power we recommend first to contact your electrical provider to verify if they know why you lost power. If they do not know why then the problem is likely inside your home.
  • Burning Smells – This can be a serious problem. Smells that resemble burnt plastic can mean damaged wires which can turn into an electrical fire. We recommend you shut off power to the area where the smell is coming from, and call Price Electric immediately.
  • Signs of Overloaded Outlets – If you spot blackened or brown marks around your in-home outlets, they are most likely overloading and getting entirely too hot. You’ll need professional assistance for this.
  • Wires in Water – This can be highly dangerous as electrocution or fire can happen if someone or something comes into contact with the water or an object within the water.
  • Exposed Wires – Any time that you see exposed wires it can mean a risk of electrocution or fire.

When you need an electrician, our certified emergency service professionals can respond to your emergency service promptly. We have multiple employees on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You can schedule an after-hours emergency service call by calling 319-393-6406 and choosing option 9.

Any time you are worried about electrical safety, you should contact the certified electricians at Price Electric!

Thanks for the tip about a loss of power can be a reason to call for an electrician. I have a light-switch in my apartment that won’t turn on the ceiling fan light in the family room and I didn’t know why since the switchboard looked ok. I should probably call a professional to come check it out. http://mistersparkymi.com/

Thanks for the information that smelling burnt plastic could mean that your wires are damaged and that could cause an electrical fire. My sister was telling me that she’s smelling a weird burning smell lately but she can’t find the source. I’ll have to tell her that she should call an electrician soon since it could mean her wires are damaged and she’ll need to get them replaced quickly. http://www.mkdelectrical.com.au/anything-electrical.html

I’m glad you pointed out that we should call an electrician if we notice any black or brown marks around the outlets in our home, since it means that our outlets are overloading and getting too hot. When I was unplugging my phone charger this morning, I noticed some brown marks around the outlet, and it felt warm to the touch as well. I’ll definitely take your advice and call an electrician soon! http://www.pireselectric.com/projects.html

Recently, I noticed that there’s a loss of power in my home during the night and I don’t know where the source is from. I also believe that the buzzing and humming sounds could be a sign of electrical failures in the house. Since you pointed out that burning smells shouldn’t be ignored, I’ll call an electrician to take care of electric repairs in my house. http://www.actionelectricservice.net/services

I liked that you said that one time in which to call an emergency residential electrician is when your power goes out. I would imagine that working with electricity would be dangerous. I will be sure to hire a professional electrician to take care of any electrical problems safely.

It’s good to know that emergency services are available whenever I need. Last winter, my aunt’s house flooded and there were lots of live, exposed electrical wires that practically made her basement a death trap. She couldn’t go downstairs for a while until she found an electrician. Her basement is okay now, but she definitely had a scare.

My brother went home last night and noticed that the lights in his home are already buzzing. It was explained here that when hearing buzzing noises, it may indicate that the breaker is failing to trip. Furthermore, it’s recommended to hire professionals when in need of commercial electrical repairs. https://jrelectricalusa.com/services/commercial-services/
